Abstract:

The aim of the research is to create an assessment model which will be an interaction of the cognitive-motor integration and will be able to comprehensively inform about the performance of the primary school students and to consider the characteristics of their mental and physical development. The experimental design was used by projecting the model on a group of (60) students of the fourth year of primary school in the governate of Babil, where the sample has been subdivided into two groups: experimental and control. The research instruments were been also elaborated, e.g. cognitive test, motor performance observation card, and assessment forms. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to ensure validity and Cronbach alpha coefficient was also used to ensure reliability of the items. The post-test findings were statistically significant at (0.001) level between the two groups where the experimental group scored higher than the control group in two aspects--which is, in cognitive achievement and motor performance. The outcomes showed that the suggested model is efficient in terms of rising the performance of the students in general as an opportunity to combine the theoretical knowledge and the practical actions in the area of the motor activities, improving the definition and the feeling of motivation in the learning. The instruments also possessed high validity and reliability and can therefore be used in practical learning. This study suggests the use of the models of comprehensive assessment in primary schools that incorporate multiple elements of learning. It also focuses on the necessity of preparations and trainings of teachers to use such assessment tools which helps to create the educational environment and reach deeper and long-lasting learning.
