Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to identify the effect of a weight-bearing physical program on: The physical efficiency of fencers, and the functional efficiency of fencers. The researcher used the experimental method with two groups: an experimental and a control group, to suit the nature of the research. The research sample was intentionally selected from 20 fencers registered with the federation affiliated with the clubs (Wasit, Kut, and Al-Hay). They were divided into two groups: the first, a control group, consisting of 10 fencers; and the second, an experimental group, consisting of 10 fencers, in addition to the players subjected to the exploratory experiment. One of the most important results reached by the researcher is that: The weight training program does not develop the speed component to the desired extent, and the weight training program has a positive effect on the agility and strength components characterized by speed, as demonstrated by the results of this study. One of the most important recommendations recommended by the researchers is that: Disseminate the research results to fencing coaches to benefit from them, and conduct similar studies of such programs to develop the physical and functional efficiency of fencers.
