Muammil K

Abstract:

The awareness and perception of step aerobics among college students in Kerala are investigated in this study. A planned cardiovascular exercise that combines strength, coordination, and rhythm, step aerobics has several health advantages. A descriptive survey of 1,000 students from different colleges, ages 18 to 25, was carried out. The findings showed that while 41% of pupils had heard about step aerobics from their schools, just 15% were completely aware of its advantages. Step aerobics' rhythmic and dance-like form made it more fun for many pupils than other routines. Step aerobics was thought to provide more fitness benefits than Zumba, especially in terms of cardiovascular endurance, strength, and coordination. Social media and physical education programs were crucial in raising awareness. Students' answers were mostly positive, despite their little expertise. The results emphasise the necessity of include both theoretical and practical aspects of step aerobics in curriculum, and they recommend holding competitions at the college, university, and intercollegiate levels to encourage its use even more.
